Skulls and other sketches

Here are some old drawings from when I was at Bournemouth Art College studying Animation Production. There are also some life drawing of skulls and my hand that I drew at home when I was a bit bored. There are some some experiments I did such asthe single line drawing I did of a friend and the one just above which I did with nothing but a pen, no guides at all.

Something New A.K.A New York Trip

This was another part of the Summer project I was set to do which was called 'Something New'.The point of it was that we kept a diary of the things we did everyday and when we did something new. My something new was my trip to New York as I had not been before and so I drew the sites that really captured New York for me.

1) The top image is a drawing I did while looking out of the window from my plane as i was heading to New York. Big thanks to the A.C. that kept gushing cold air in my face so I couldn't get to sleep so I drew this instead.
2) The second image is of  statue in the U.N. Heeadquarters Grounds.I  was lucky that my mother had a friend who worked there who showed me and my sister inside. I would have drawn more images of more things but I literally had a couple of weeks before I had to go back so I chose this image to commemorate the event.
3) Lastly, this was an image of the New York skyline welded from a piece of one of the melted and crushed beams from the World Trade Centre site.It was such a moving and haunting piece of art I just had to do an image of it. I'll never forget visiting the memorial.Seeing the holes that now stand where the Twin Towers did. I was both awe stuck and moved by it.

Pigmin the mouse

The images above are the same as below but I put them through Illustrator and vectorized them using 16 color filter. Frankly I think they look better, somehow more 3 dimensional.

This is some work I did on my own time using some water color pencils and some ink. The story is of a mouse called Pigmin, his mishap and almost certain death by a large foot.

Life Drawing Class-November 2013

These are from a life drawing class I went to recently. It was the first time in quite a few years where I picked up a pencil and started drawing life again.
I tried out some new Techniques and experimented which I had never done before, using circular strokes to give the drawing form . I don't know what it's called but I was told to try and draw like that. I was introduced to it a few years ago but never really brought into it as I have always drawn in my own style and way. However, I felt that it would be good to see how I would do with it, and surprisingly it worked for the most part.

Number through Print

This is my latest project Number Through Print. The premise of the project was to explore how numbers affect us on a daily basis, which is quite a broad subject given that numbers are everywhere and used in everything. It was really hard nailing a particular number so I went with the number zero, more specifically Binary.
Binary is the basis for our modern way of life and I found out the most important number system in the 21st century.
Using that as a basis I created these 5 images each representing the evolution of the personal computer over a 25 year time span. I also chose to base the timeline on apple products as they are easily recognizable to everyone and apple created the first personal computer, literally coming up with the first one which is featured at the top of the timeline.

Abbey Road

This is the first project I did for my first term of my second year. The title of the unit was Sequential Illustration. The unit required that we design a character either living or not, person or object and show them doing something in a sequence, anything from really epic scenes or mundane everyday things like drinking coffee. It had to include the same character in all 5 scenes and one sheet of the character by itself.
The name of my character is Dave. The story is set in 60s London and Dave is off walking down Abbey Road. Just as he's crossing the road, he sees the Beatles about to walk across and do the iconic photo for their album Abbey Road. The story takes place moments before that happens and sees Dave cross the street and then proceed to watch the Beatles walk across.

I'm quite pleased with it as it was my first time using Adobe Illustrator and I've not always had great luck with using programmes. I was a bit on edge the whole time I was doing the project but frankly looking back I couldn't have done it without  the help of Illustrator.
